After upgrading from Microsoft Works 2.00 to ClarisWorks, I sulked a while trying to figure out how to get all my MSWorks WP docs into ClarisWorks format without having to open them one by one from the “Open” dialog within the application. Someone with some real programming ability can probably do it more elegantly, but I made a partial labor saver with Daniel Azuma's "Make AutoTyper.” It only works under System 7.
Drag any number of documents, or whole folders full, to the MSW2->CW icon. It changes all of their creator codes from PSI2 to BOBO. They will have generic icons, but be listed as ClarisWorks documents. Then, with ClarisWorks OFF, select them all, select “Open,” (or <CMD> <O> ), and ClarisWorks will launch, and mass convert them all into ClarisWorks WP documents. Hit "Quit", then just keep hitting "Return" as it saves them, one by one. Still tedious, but it saves a bunch of time.
Make AutoTyper 3.2 is part of FileTyper 3.2, in ZMC:DOWNTECH Lib 1 as FILTYP.CPT. The previous version is in MACSYS Lib 7 as TYPR31.SEA. FileTyper is $10. AutoTypers, including this one, can be distributed for free.
